Polichshuk, Stanislav ; Bendová, Eva (advisor) ; Pech, Milan (referee)
People have long been attracted to mystical stories. Russian fairy tales, saturated with Russian mysticism and symbols, deserve special attention. These works significantly contributed to the formation of Russian symbolism as a stylistic expression. The work examines the connection between Russian fairy tales and the emergence of an independent artistic style in painting at the end of the 19th century - Russian symbolism through the personalities of artists Viktor Vasnetsov, Mikhail Vrubel and Viktor Borisov-Musatov. The subject of the work will also be a chapter on the historical, political and social situation of Russia in the 1870s and 1890s, which influenced the emergence of style together with artists. How did the elements of symbolism manifest themselves in other Russian art? Who exactly were avant-garde artists influenced by symbolism? This bachelor thesis will look for answers.
